Minor updates

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

Changed the PayPal “Buy Now” buttons to shopping cart buttons. This will allow people to purchase more than one group of names at a time.

This website is barely making enough to cover hosting costs, so I added a small advertisement for GoToMeeting. They pay me $30 every time someone signs up for a free trial. In addition, if you end up not wanting the product, canceling is super easy and can be done completely online without having to answer a questionnaire or talk to a customer service rep. Please try out their service to help support this website!

And last, fixed a typo with the Danish language.

Hungarian phone numbers

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Added Hungarian phone numbers. I couldn’t find area codes for a few cities, and so I assigned them mobile telephone numbers. The rest should be the correct area code for that city.

Also fixed another bug with the name set bar. Should be 100% working now.

Italy phone numbers and name set bar bug fix

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Added mobile phone numbers for Italy.

Fixed a bug that would sometimes display incorrect applicable name sets for saved identities.

Even more changes

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Added Finnish mobile phone numbers. It seems most Finnish people use mobile instead of land lines anyway (and it is a LOT easier to implement).

Changed the option drop-down boxes to use GET instead of POST. Basically this means that if you click “Go” to change an option (only applicable if you have JavaScript disabled), then if you hit Refresh you won’t get an annoying “You are going to resubmit form information” warning from your browser. It also makes the code a lot cleaner.

In addition, we cleaned out a few minor bugs that crept into the drop-down boxes (such as gender selection not always “sticking” properly).

Bug fixes and UK phone numbers

Friday, July 21st, 2006

Added support for UK telephone numbers. Generated numbers fall under the personal/mobile class.

In addition, the following bugs have been fixed:

  • Telephone numbers not being saved properly for some countries
  • Some accented characters were not showing properly for Finland
  • Sweden zip codes were not being saved properly
  • UK zip codes were not being saved properly

More updates and bug fixes

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

We changed the gender selection to a drop-down box to make it more consistent with the other option selectors.

We removed the localization on the birthdates. It looked a little funny and didn’t make much sense with non-English countries.

We were alerted to a bug that would show a random age for saved identities instead of the correct age. This should be fixed now.

Added telephone support for Cyprus (English) and Cyprus (Greek).

Updates and new features

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

First, we added Cyprus (Greek) and Cyprus (English) addresses, without telephone number support. Because the Greek characters are not ASCII, we had to change the encoding of the page to Unicode (which, to be honest, we should have done from the beginning anyway…). This caused (and is still causing) a few problems, but we have most everything working.

Email address generation was temporarily broken due to the change to Unicode, but everything should be working fine again.

vCard support was removed due to lack of use and problems with Unicode. We are looking for a script to produce Unicode-compatible vCard 3.0 files or another convenient downloadable format.

In addition, we FINALLY finished address AND telephone support for Germany. All the area codes should be real area codes, but there are likely quite a few area codes assigned to the wrong city.

That is it for the day!

Added Belgium

Tuesday, July 18th, 2006

Added support for Belgium, without telephone support.

New features and updates

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Added the England/Wales name set. It contains common given names and surnames used in England and Wales over the past 5 years.

Updated the Hungarian name set to contain many more possible unique names.

Added support for Iceland, with telephone numbers.

Added support for Italy, without telephone numbers.

Added Hungarian name set

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Added a Hungarian name set to go along with Hungary. We’ll probably work on getting an Italian name set up next (to go with Switzerland).
